Developer Blog from Mike Irving - Subtle website re-design
29/4/2008 - Subtle website re-designRegular visitors may have noticed that this very website has undergone a subtle redesign.
I decided that the existing web design had begun to look a little tiresome, and was generally looking past it's best.
Over the past few weeks I have re-made the site you see today, and I am rather pleased with the results.
The design itself looks very similar, but is slightly wider, at 1000 pixels. It is now laid out in DIVs, in very clean XHTML, whereas the old design was in Tables.
The news article previews, now part of my "Web Design Blog" have also moved from the left hand spine, to the right, and have adopted a more attractive calendar style of listing.
I have added 3 new sections all about Website Design, Web Hosting and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), provided you useful advice and tips.
I have also updated, and added to, the Portfolio section.
Also added are the "Social Bookmarking" buttons you see below. These allow you to add my pages to social networking sites, such as MySpace and Facebook, as an alternative to traditional Browser Bookmarks. Alternatively you can subscribe to my RSS feed to be automatically updated with my latest news.
I hope you like the look of my new website, why not have a further look around?
